In the shadowed annals of ancient Egypt, during the waning years of the Middle Kingdom, a secretive sect known as the Order of the Obsidian Pyramid emerged from the ancient sands of the old city of Memphis, devoted to the divine reverence of cats, with a particular veneration for an enigmatic orange tabby known as King Ket. Believed to be an earthly incarnation of Bastet’s spirit, King Ket was no ordinary feline but a celestial being whose golden eyes were said to pierce the veil between the mortal and divine realms. The Order, cloaked in mystery, held clandestine rituals beneath the obsidian-clad pyramids, where they chanted hymns to honor King Ket’s wisdom and grace. Legends whisper that the cat himself, guided by Bastet’s will, bestowed his followers with sacred artworks—papyrus scrolls marked with his own paw print, each one unique and imbued with mystical power. These RWA (real-world asset) artifacts, revered as physical, divine relics, were said to channel Bastet’s blessings, granting protection, prosperity, and spiritual insight to any household that safeguarded them.
The Order’s influence grew in secret, its members sworn to silence under penalty of eternal disfavor from King Ket. Each paw-signed artwork was a covenant, a tangible link to the divine feline and his patron goddess. These relics, passed down through generations, were kept in hidden shrines within homes, where they were believed to ward off malevolent forces and attract Bastet’s favor. The Order’s lore tells of King Ket’s final act before ascending to the stars: he marked a final series of scrolls with his paw, each stroke infused with a fragment of his divine essence. To this day, the Order of the Obsidian Pyramid guards the secret of these artifacts, ensuring that only the worthy receive King Ket’s sacred mark, forever tying their fates to the eternal grace of Bastet and her beloved tabby king.
